Thanksgiving in Mahomet

For Thanksgiving we went on an adventure to both Grandparents homes.  It was a long drive to Mahomet, but Kensi did awesome! It definitely took us a lot longer with a baby, with numerous stops - and longer stops, but it was well worth the drive to visit Gigi and Grandpa Jim in Mahomet.  Unfortunately, our trip was cut a bit shorter than planned because of Kensi's ear infection and her having to get a shot Wednesday morning, but we were still able to celebrate Thanksgiving with family.  It has been at least 4 years since we have made the trip to Mahomet, so it was much needed. Plus we were able to introduce Kensi to all the animals! She got to meet Denny and Genie, Kyle's parents horses! 

When we arrived on Wednesday, Jill had Thanksgiving dinner all prepared! It was so nice to be able to arrive to a yummy meal and just relax.  Then on actual Thanksgiving we just ate leftovers and hung out. Kyle and I actually went to a movie and Gigi and Grandpa Jim watched Kensi.  It was the first movie we have been to together in over 8 months! That afternoon we went to the barn to see the horses. Kensi was able to 'ride' sweet Genie, ride a tracker with Grandpa and climb around on the hay bails.

Gigi and Grandpa got Kensi a PONY! :At first she wasn't a fan, but eventually warmed up to it.  She loved bouncing up and down.

She was a bit confused at first but after a few minutes she began petting/pulling Genie's mane.  Gigi will have her riding horses in no time I'm sure!

It was really special to be able to go to Mahomet for Thanksgiving except one thing was missing - AUNT KELLI! We missed having her with us but we were able to facetime for awhile so that helped a little bit.  Hopefully next year we can have Thanksgiving together with all of the Rogers :)

How time has flown by....

Kensi is 8 months old already!! It feels like yesterday that we brought her home from the hospital and had no idea what we were doing.  She is such a happy and good baby.  She is crawling all over the place and almost pulling herself up.  She gets into everything we don't want her to even though she had a hundred toys to play with! She is always 'talking' and smiling, she laughs and loves to be tickled.  She likes to read books and sit quietly in the evenings.  She is eating any baby food we give her, but she hasn't mastered regular food yet.  She seems to hate the texture and the thought of swallowing something somewhat hard or thick.  But she is getting there and I'm sure next month she will be eating regular food. We have switched to formula and she did great with the transition! Our poor baby has had her 6th ear infection this month so we are taking her to an ENT in a few weeks to see if tubes are in her future.

Kensi has mastered the 'cheese' smile! It's so darn cute - as soon as we bring out the camera she puts her big smile on! haha

Kensi loves bath time too! She has outgrown her little bath tub so now sits, splashes and play with all her toys.  She loves the bubbles and just talks and screams the whole time she is in the tub.

The Marks' Visit

Mid October my roomie from OSU, Melissa and her husband Ben MARKS came to visit us and meet Kensi.  They were on their way down to Florida for a cruise, so it was perfect timing to stay with us a few days. The guys were able to go golfing and the gals went shopping. It was a fun time to catch and and introduce Kensi to her Auntie Mel.  We can't wait until Kensi has a new little friend! Hopefully sooner rather than later ;)

7 Months

Annnddd..... She's Off!

Kensi is officially mobile now.  She took a couple crawls forward on Halloween but really took off this past weekend.  Her new favorite toy is anything we don't want her to crawl over to. Guess it's time to baby-proof the house. Gigi visited this weekend as well, we'll get some pictures up of her visit soon!
